I must admit I do not believe in astrology.
On the 7th of August, Nidhee and I were at an ultrasound clinic at 1 pm. We called the doctor with the results. She said, "We should a caesarean section. If you want and can come to the hospital right away, we can do it today. Else we can do it tomorrow morning. There's no urgency - it is up to you."
We thought about it and said, "We're coming directly."
We reached around 2 pm and Nidhee headed to the OT at around 2:45. At 3, Ekagra was born.
Would his future wealth, health and happiness have changed in a predictable way had we waited till the next day? Or if we had gone to another clinic at another location?
If people can predict what will happen to a single child's future (out of 6 billion on the planet) perhaps 20, 30 or 40 years later, why can't they predict what will happen to the Sensex tomorrow? Or even what the weather will be like? :-) Let us start with simpler problems.
I know a lot of people have a lot of faith. I admire faith per se, but in this case I think it is a little misplaced. And often dangerous to health and peace of mind.
If you read the early astrology treatises, you can see they started off as scientific works. Someone may have observed occasional connections between certain star positions and certain types of events and tried to see if the patterns were consistent. Over time though this "science" appears to have gone haywire - people seem to have started seeing patterns without validating them statistically. You will find in those books predictions similar to the following (I quote from memory): "If such and such stars are in such and such places, then all the metal artisans who work with brass and also own cattle will run the risk of financial ruin." It is observation of an event or two without statistical validation.
I am open to the possibility of existence of certain "occult" phenomenon such as Extra Sensory Perception. There is a LOT we do not know about the universe. But I must admit that, as it exists today, astrology is impossible for me to believe. Believers, I beg your forbearance.

Carefully reading leading popular science like 'Cosmos' has made me aware of the amazing complexity of our Universe. So I agree with the contention that attributing specific effects which specific planets can have on us is quite a claim to make. But what never ceases to amaze me is the accuracy with which these astrologers (especially palmists) talk about one's past. I guess there's something worth investigating out there.
Ture, at the very least many of them are AMAZING psychologists and mindreaders.
Yes! Imagine, one such person telling me that the Jupiter in my hand and the Sun in my eyes mandated my being an enterpreneur and nothing else!

According to me the day and time was fixed for your son birth.
This is the way we humans think that if i will do this then what strange will happen but all things are predefined and we are restricted to them only.
If anybody is doing something different then he is made for different.
Although all these stars and other indicators can have scientific reason but without any technology one comman man explains so many things about our life.
So what should you call this...?
Deepesh, it is possible that everything is pre-ordained. Or at least it is possible that there is no "free will".
But about how one common man can explain so many things about your life, let me get back with another, more detailed post.

Indians always believe in Karma (Action,Traits) Sidhhant, “Which says that whatever we get, its because of our Karmas”. It’s impossible for me to believe on astrology because it seems me a paradox, where one side we believe on Karma and on the other hand we believe in astrology.

In fact, what spooks me often about palmists (and their entire clan, brood, community) is the confidence with which they speak. Take this guy - he looked into my eyes and said "You are NOT MEANT for anything other than enterpreneurship". I was speechless :-))
Well, Manu, one locally famous palmist and soothsayer - adviser of the rich and famous of South Delhi yet living out of a box on the pavement - looked into MY eyes and said with confidence, "I DO NOT see a family in your future."
Luckily I didn't believe him, but I think you did. :-)

It is very fascinating or better to say intriguing to see your opposite approach regarding the same topic...
I have a more combined opinion of what both of you are saying.
"A moment passed is a moment gone" so when Manas sir says that things may not be different from what they were had their child born on a different time, different clinic, but that is just not possible because that moment would have been a all together different moment so two moment's comparison can't be done in that case.
Sandeep sir, it is more easy and precise to tell about past because even laws of physics tells about more feasibility of traveling into the past then to go into future.

some days before i was at a point of not believing 'astrology'...but it so happened that a person met me (i didnt go to meet him to be very clear)...he told me everything about my family, and also told me that my BIRTH name is not Seema (in hindus there is a concept of birth name)....how could he do this i dont know...

Well actually Astrology has a huge impact on people's lives. But even before the astrology has an impact, it is the person who has control over the astrology itself.
I can say of this not because iam an astrologer , but I know of a body of knowledge or the the root and the trunk of knowledge or the source of knowledge , awareness which completely clears the clutter of perceptions and puts a definite answer before the people of this world . A simple way of defining this would be the word called "Truth" .
Philosophy has always been the foundation of knowledge.And if there is one foundation for philosophy itself then it is the Truth.
And what's more strange than the fact that the truth lives within ourselves and we do not know of it, because as humans we have got used to percieve things that are physical and that are outside of ourselves.
Then comes the fact how can we look within ourselves . And more to say , we ourselves are an exact replica of the mightly universe, because that's how THE ALMIGHTY created us.
So we actually do not need a telescope to look outside into the universe, because the answer is very simple.So trying to comprehend the universe with physical eyes does not give a complete picture of the same or the other solar systems and world beyond this one.

Well again people can say that the pdf format can be coverted into a word file , but we must know that the conversion actually loses lot of information. And if people stick to converting and using , they will be ridden with wrong information that would lead them to wrong conclusions and wrong assumptions about the start of the universe or the effects of the star's and planets on the people , and also the fact that people are not a slave to their own fate .
Maybe philosophy can be useful here which enables me to make the statement
" Fate is what we have, destiny is what we do with it"

The astrologer could not tell my birth-name, but he could tell about my parents(he has never met them)and many things which only a person who knows me could have been able to tell.
I was surprised and inclined to believe all that he said. Sir you will be surprised to hear that he had warned me that I will fall sick, and it was only two days after he said I was down with fever. i don't know what it is really?

Earlier I had lot of faith my astrology. There were times when I went to a astrologer just to get answered what course should I go for.
Thank God! I am no more into this. What i feel now is that everything is destined. It's just your actions and to some extend luck which decide your fate.
